Mahi Siyah Kuchulu (“The Little Black Fish”) is an Iranian classic of children’s books written by Samad Behrangi.
We offer it in its Persian language version with its original drawings by Farshid Mesghali.
An old fish tells her 12,000 children this story of the Little Black Fish. This one was living quietly when one day, he began to absolutely want to see where the stream ends. Everyone tried to dissuade him. But, intrepid, he Little Black Fish decides to explore the world anyway. He will face various adventures and will make many discoveries!
Note that this book was banned under the Shah era because of the subversive content underlying the story. Indeed, it turns out to be a fine political allegory and a call for resistance and justice in the face of all authorities !
